Are you attending Coding Gym for the first time? If the answer is yes, this quick guide is for you!
Before attending the session
- Create your own account on HackerRank, if you don’t have one
- Sign up for the HackerRank contest of the session (check the session details)
While you are attending the session
- Take a seat:
- pair with someone sitting alone, if any
- otherwise, sit alone and wait for a peer
- at Coding Gym we love “talking to strangers” :) Working with people you don’t know gives value
- be friendly and have fun. It’s not a contest!
- Open the contest page - do not open any challenges before the trainer says so!
- When the trainer starts the session, enter the first challenge
- Listen to the trainer and ask questions if you have any
- Check the problem carefully with your peer. Take your time!
- Remember the difference between Run and Submit:
- Run is just for quickly running and checking a few tests
- Submit runs the whole test-suite against your code
- you can submit your code multiple times, there is no limit
- You can resume a submitted solution anytime:
- go to “Submission” tab
- click “View Results” of a solution
- click “Open in editor”
After the session
- Give Feedback:
- help Coding Gym staff achieve more. Give your personal feedback by filling up the questionnaire sent to you after the session
- Only You can help yourself:
- Experiment with your ideas and think about alternative solutions
- Any topic intrigues you? Delve into it!
- Get out of your comfort zone
- Leave your contribution to the Community:
- Coding Gym is made with Community effort
- Comment the challenges with your solutions, ideas and questions
…And do not forget to HAVE FUN!!!
